What is Title I? Title I is a federally funded academic assistance program for schools. The goal of Title I is to ensure a high quality education for every child. Title I focuses on those students who are furthest from meeting state and national standards for academic achievement. How does Title I work? The federal government provides funding to states each year for Title I. The state agency sends the money to local school districts based on the number of students who qualify for free or reduced lunch.
